How I plan to support Marsh School

I will use my experience, skills and learning from my professional career and apply it to the effective governance of the Marsh School.

I will attend all governor meetings where I can and play and active role on committees and in the wider life of the school, ensuring I undertake a visit at least once a term.

I will support, offer constructive challenge and hold to account our head teacher and her teaching staff to ensure that the Marsh School maintains its strong focus on high standards of teaching and discipline through an effective and supportive nurturing approach.

I will seek to grow the Marsh School’s influence in the wider community.

About me and why I became a Governor

I became a governor at the Marsh School for three main reasons:

  • I think education is really important. A good education is critical to improving children’s life chances, helping to ensure that they are equipped with the right skills, experiences and knowledge to help them succeed in their lives. I think it’s important that all children are given the opportunities to thrive, with learning tailored to their own abilities, so that social mobility is enabled and not constrained. In my governor role, I want to help ensure that all children at the Marsh School get the opportunities they need to learn, succeed and set themselves up for a seamless progression into junior school, becoming good members of the local community and beyond.
  • I am a local resident and applied to be a governor at the Marsh School, because I wanted to help contribute to my local community, investing time for our local children to help them to do and be the best they can. I want to help place our school at the heart of our community and help grow our strong reputation for learning through our nurturing approach.
  • I believe that strong governance is extremely important in order for an organisation to succeed and I want to both offer my professional experience from my day job and grow as an individual through experiencing new learning in my governor role.
