Marsh Infant and Nursery School

First Steps Nursery

First Steps Nursery is an integrated nursery within our school, it is managed by our excellent and experienced team of Teachers and Early Years Practitioners. First Steps, as part of our school, prides itself on the nurturing and inspiring ethos which promotes mutual respect and celebrates the diverse and vibrant community we serve. As such we were very proud to be on of the very first school in the UK to achieve a National School Nurturing Award, this prestigious award which recognises the work we do to support well-being for the whole school community.

Children’s learning and well-being is at the heart of everything we do at First Steps and Marsh. We promote aspiration for children and work closely with families to encourage them to strive to be the best that they can be within a supportive and secure framework. Through exciting experiences, we aim to help our children develop lively, enquiring minds with a lifelong passion for learning. Children attending First Steps nursery are invited to participate in many lovely school events such as theatre productions, music workshops, festival celebrations and much more.

About Us

Our Nursery is led by Mrs Blair and Miss Holt, they are supported by Miss Rourke who is the Early Years Coordinator and a member of the school’s Senior Management Team. Mrs Blair and Miss Holt are expertly supported by well-trained Early Years practitioners. All staff at First Steps have regular training opportunities, ensuring that current educational research is used to facilitate the best possible provision for our children. Membership of local Early Years Forums, liaison groups and cluster groups mean that our nursery is well informed of changing expectations and legislation in Early Years education and has frequent opportunities to share good practice with other successful providers.
