Marsh Infant and Nursery School

Design and Technology

The curriculum for Design and Technology at Marsh aims to develop imaginative thinking in children and to enable them to talk about what they like and dislike when designing and making things. Activities will enable children to explore and talk about how a variety of things work and to draw or model their ideas. When working on their ideas, children will know about selecting appropriate tools and techniques for making items and will understand the need for safety. Whilst exploring how things are made, we will help them to explore attitudes towards objects in the man-made and natural world and how we live within it. Children will learn about technological processes and products, how they are manufactured and the contribution of different products to our society and how some products help people in their daily lives. We aim to foster enjoyment, satisfaction and purpose in designing and making things. Children will develop determination, resilience and perseverance in adapting their designs to make them work better or suit their purpose.
